You’re currently on your year in industry, which placements have you undertaken so far and how useful have they proved in terms of education and experience? I have had a placement at Gratterpalm in Leeds, NHS CPC in Sheffield and I am currently at Accrue Creative Design in Oxfordshire. In terms of experience, Gratterpalm was amazing to see how a massive advertising company worked, and how a studio with 15 designers and copywriters and 2 creative directors worked together to deliver solutions to their huge projects for Asda and Greggs (their biggest clients I believe). NHS CPC was much more commercial work for primary care trusts and foundation trusts, and because of the strict NHS guidelines it was sometimes difficult and constraining to design solutions that were effective, but from the experience I just had to think more creatively on how to stick to the guidelines whilst thinking around the constrictions. My work at Accrue is more corporate focused, which is great experience as it’s completely different work to anything I did on my previous placements.
